Today I ran north to south across Dhaka, one of the most densely populated cities in the world. I started just before sunrise at the National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur-10, beneath the newly opened Dhaka Metro trying to get ahead of the waves of cars, buses, rickshaws, CNGs, and people that fill the streets each day.
The route passes Parliament and Dhaka University, and then drops into the winding maze of Old Dhaka where the streets narrow and you pass by the iconic Mughal era Lalbagh Fort at the final stretch toward the Buriganga River.
If we can run in Dhaka, we can run anywhere.
Tips: Start early (~6am) and preferably on a Friday or Saturday (considered weekend). Hire a rickshaw to follow you to help navigate and can acts as a barrier from any street dogs that you may encounter (but will count as supported).
