A great way to experience all of Berlin's Kieze in a single outing in under half a day.
Because it's a loop, you can start from any point along the route. I began at 8am just north of Mauerpark, heading clockwise. The goal was to move through the busier parts of the city: Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, and Neukölln—before the Saturday crowds picked up, then finish through the quieter, greener stretches via Schöneberg, Charlottenburg, and Wedding.
The route is well-marked with newly installed signs (late 2025), but I'd still recommend loading the GPX onto your watch for easier navigation. A couple of discrepancies to be aware of (km markers are based on the gpx file start at Tempelhoferfeld):
- Km 25.9: The route marker points right through a Kleingarten (allotment garden). Ignore this and follow the GPX, bearing left instead.
- Km 30: The bridge over the Panke is currently closed. Head south along Stockholmer Straße and cross at Soldiner Brücke before rejoining the route.
