Started out at the Old Grammar school just after 8:15am. The weather was sunny with decent cloud cover and between 16-20degC. I had 3 litres of carb and electrolyte drinks and 270g of carb gel to get me through.
Worked my way out of Great Bowden and battled some cattle just before Sutton Bassett. Another walk through a field at Medbourne because of cattle and then tackling a few nav issues at Nevill Holt because of the festival.
The heat picked up around the 25km mark but the route quickly turned into a long climb up a road, so it was good to settle in.
I had some minor nav issues between Gretton and Stoke Albany but that was mainly down to the fields being well grown, plus my legs were ready for a slower pace for a while.
After a lot of tired confusion post-Dingley I managed to find the route and push on towards Harborough and the finish.
The nav errors certainly cost me my 6 hour target, but such is life! Looking forward to seeing someone put this time under 5 hours if the conditions are right.
