For more certification, check out my Instagram and go to Highlights with the title "FKT 8 Peaks of E". There I posted the summiting LIVE.
Trip report:
I completed the 8 Peaks of Entlebuch entirely on foot in 15:37:06. The project connects the highest summit of each mountain range in the entire Entlebuch that can be reached via a red-marked hiking trail. This results in eight summits: Brienzer Rothorn, Hengst, Fürstei, Schafmatt, Haglere, Schimbrig, Blaue Tosse and Beichle.
The terrain was much more technical and demanding than the distance and elevation numbers suggest. It was really brutal with incredibly steep trails. The crossing of Hengst was particularly challenging, with exposed sections and sharp rock formations on the descent. My goal was to finish in under 15 hours. Unfortunately, I injured my right knee on summit 7, Schimbrig, after that running became difficult. I still had to descend the technical blue-white section from Schimbrig before continuing towards the final summit. At that point I knew that the sub-15 goal was no longer possible. The first ascent and final descent are not included in the timed section, as the route is a peak-bagging FKT and this provides a clearly defined start and finish.
I completed the majority of the route alone. My father accompanied me for the first approximately 2-3 km and half of the descent from summit 7 (Schimbrig), and for the final summit (Blaue Tosse) and had a few more gels for me. A friend also accompanied me for the ascent/descent of summit 7 (Schimbrig).
Another supporter on Bike assisted with logistics, including transport of water and gels and he waited on 4 different aidstations on the route. This route at this time of the year has almost no water, because all the wells are already turned off. This support was used for logistics only and did not involve running the route with me. I can provide their Strava activities to verify these sections.
