I ran the Pewsey Avon Trail in the Pewsey-Salisbury direction after checking out the route in stages last winter. It's quite well signposted, I think some of the signs have been put in place quite recently. It's pretty varied with Pewsey at the start, Amesbury in the middle and Salisbury at the end, up onto Salisbury plain for part of it and otherwise quiet villages and countryside. There's a little book about it that you can buy from the bookshop in Marlborough which tells you this and that about things along the way which makes it more interesting. My husband Jon met me in a few places along the way with drinks (but you could buy stuff and my friend James cycled some of the second half with me. Two of my children ran the last 100m with me. It was a bit overgrown but not muddy so this is a good time of year to run it. It joins up with the start of the Avon Valley Path if you'd like to make a day of it.
