After eyeing the full Gab route through years of fire closures and disrepair, we took advantage of recent trail work (thank you Lowelifes!) and an unseasonably cool/cloudy summer morn to tackle it in one go. We were ahead of FKT pace on the early climb to Newcomb Pass, then fell behind on the gorgeous but slow-going section along the W Fork and the multiple blackberry bogs (yum!) near Valley Forge; we had a few routefinding hiccups, but with two sets of eyes generally recovered the trail quickly. Following a brief stop to refill water at Red Box, we took off downhill, steadily gaining time back despite one of us (Arjuna) being bloodied on a careless trip-n-fall. When at long last we came through the Ken Burton junction, we decided to push the pace to the end, ultimately popping out at the JPL/Windsor trailhead a few minutes ahead of Cameron et al's time, earning a post-run snack from the friendly fruit cart right there in the parking lot. A truly marvelous day :)
