A very wet, windy and fun run.
This is a very beautiful route and a fun one to run fast, so I decided it was a good one to submit as a route and put down an initial FKT.
First half is flatish and nice running terrain whereas the second half has all the elevation. I decided to be conservative on the first half to keep my legs strong for the hills which worked okay as a tactic, but I might try again and push it more on the first half to see if that allows for a faster time.
I brought 1L of water and only refilled once towards the end in a stream next to Glencorse Reservoir. Brought plenty of food with me which I ate all of... 50g dried mango, 50g dates, 2x energy gels, 60g jelly beans, 2x belvita bars.
Time is very manageable for a decent runner to beat, so I'd recommend giving it a go if you are curious! Also, I'm confident sub 3hrs is very achievable for a good hill runner!
