This wasn’t my first time running the trail, so I had some idea of what to expect. My dad also ran it with me and he had done it once before. Going for the FKT, I made sure to consume a lot of carbs, and I knew I wanted to make up time on the downhills and by not really stopping. The weather was great, and I was mostly able to make it along the technical terrain without tripping. I was most worried about quick weather changes, so I brought a couple layers that I didn’t end up using. I wore the Hoka Tecton X3, and they were great for such a long, technical, and rocky trail. I almost ran out of water, as it was a hotter day than I was kind of expecting. The other hard part was not losing the trail, as it became extremely faint at times.
