FKT Report:
Started at 6:40am (the route actually starts at Ina and Alvernon by the parking, not the sign at the trailhead!) and headed up. First mile is runnable, miles 2&3 kicked my butt and were all hiking. Mile 4 is still steep, and the trail is a little more overgrown. The last mile you are really traversing to the peak, and it’s so gorgeous! I was lucky the canyon was in the shade on the way up. It was high enough where there were trees and pinecones! The views from Mt. Kimball look over the backside of the mountains and we’re totally worth it. Had a celebratory cookie and started back down. Was able to cautiously run a lot more on the way down (after a slide on loose rocks, I was a bit more careful!). More sun on the way down, but went by fast! A little ankle roll about 0.5 mi to the end, but feeling okay now! Made the whole journey in just over 5 hours!

Kit:

Altra Torins - these are road shoes and really too cushy for trails, but I'm traveling and it's what I had!

Soloman Adv 12 vest - love this, so much room for snacks, water, first aid kit, sunscreen, etc

3 liters of water (1L had LMNT mixed in)

Snacks every 30-40 minutes
