Started at 7:06 am - 25 mins before sunrise at Daddy Franks with 1l of water and 8 SIS Beta Fuel gels. Took a head lamp but not really necessary since there was enough light for the only remotely technical part (Kuebler Trail.)
Once past the airport, started to push the pace a bit down West Side Drive to the south end of the island. Made it to Iron Ore Bay (pretty much half way) after about 2h03 with a bit of water remaining.
Found a rocky bit of shoreline just past the southern most point of the island which enabled water refill (bottles with built in filters!) without taking shoes off. Only topped up ~600ml which was a mistake I would pay for later.
Maintained a decent pace for the next couple of km before it started to bite. Very tough last 20 km mentally. Didn't care about pace but just had to keep running. Fewer opportunities to top up water than expected so just ploughed through. Probably should have hit the lake for another refill.
Last few km downhill from the airport made possible to squeeze in under 4h20. Jumped in the lake at the public beach to cool off and refresh. Happy days!
