It was a perfect day for running fast in the mountains, especially with a Wish (dog) along. Temperatures down low were around 60 and up high around 40. Tough day on the uphills with calf, quad and inner thigh cramps threatening on the later climbs. The downhills were smooth and fast and fun.
All the snow was gone, but I did lose a decent amount of time to a big mess of blow-downs along the Twinway between Guyot and S. Twin. The trails were mostly, except for the sections of Garfield ridge that are never dry...
My friend Julien did provide support, but not for me. There's a long dry stretch along Franconia ridge and he gave Wish a bowl of water on the summit of Lincoln. I did not get any support from Julien except to zip past a friendly face. Actually, with Galehead hut closed, there's less support than a normal year on this route!
GREAT DAY!
