The Morvan is always an adventure. I wanted this time to be lower. My body decided otherwise… and those health struggles, I wouldn’t wish them on anyone.
What an incredible adventure to share this moment with three friends: Simon, Romain and Mathieu were an absolute help. Not once did I feel alone or in danger. An FKT has to be authentic. Being supported isn’t cheating the performance, it’s going beyond it. It’s proof that people love you enough to be cold with you.
I always say the Morvan isn’t the mountains, but it’s still hostile. This route I dreamed up is now open to everyone, and that brings me immense joy!
On the day, the weather was brutal, and the night long, very long. What kept me going was of course the presence of these madmen, but also the encouragement that poured in from all over the world… sometimes from places I never expected.
I know this route by heart, so I won’t say more. Just one thing: if one day you come for this time, do it on equal terms. Start on October 23rd at 3:30 pm. Not 3:31. Not 3:29. The same night, the same cold. The route is there. The rest is in you. Come and smash my time, it’s going to be one hell of a party! And to whoever takes it on on October 23rd, 2027, the pizza’s on me at the finish.
I was cold, I was scared, I doubted. But one thing is done, one thing mattered: opening the way.
Behind every guy who ventures out, there’s always someone or something guiding him. A quest. It’s life itself that makes us triumph. Truth is something we must Be: if you Are convinced, they will be too.
