I started from the Alamo at 6 PM. I ran out down N Alamo St and continued to Broadway, where I took RT 368 from a different road (same distance). I had a friend riding a bike next to me because it was dark and rainy, so it helped to be seen. I continued to the I35 frontage road, which was hectic. The construction blocked a lot of the shoulders, making it difficult to be seen. I had two vehicles crewing that leapfrogged one another to hand me my fuel. I had about 90g Carbs/hr and 750 mg of Sodium in 500ML. Fueled by Precision Fuel and Hydration. I had some nausea around mile 38-42 and then was able to bounce back and have some pretty decent splits. Once I knew the FKT could be broken, I slowed it down due to some calf pain. Some people ran with me periodically, but my crew mostly just stayed near the vehicles, prepping my fuel. At mile 72, a friend came down on an Ebike in Austin and followed me to the capitol. My goal was around 12 hours, but with some Nausea, I fell a bit behind. Overall, it was a good route. I made one wrong turn that added about a tenth of a mile on my route, but I kept it generally the same as the previous FKT holder. I would recommend a high visibility vest (which I had) and a plan for the frontage road. It is very narrow and is dangerous. I was honked at quite a bit. It also rained off and on all night, which made puddles on the side unavoidable. I have some videos on Instagram @runwithmellymel and the data on my Strava Benjamin Melisi. I also have some larger video files saved if anyone wants to see some of the terrain. They will be posted periodically on my Instagram for the next few weeks.
