Beautiful winter-wonder-“walk” through Black Forest! Started at 7 am at Calw marketplace. Slightly cloudy, -2°C, full moon. Soft snow cover above approx. 500 m, but not more than about 20 cm in the highest regions (900 m). And mostly there’s been a track in the snow already, so no problem to run.
When I reached the plateau at dawn and came out of the forest to the edge of a clearing my breath caught: The huge full moon close to the trees illuminated the scenery with snow and ground fog. And short after disappearing of the moon in the west the sun came up in the east, couloring sky red and orange – a beautiful winter wonderland!
Great downhill to Große Enz Valley on a trail with untouched snow. Sunshine at Wildsee High Moore. Some crowd skiing and sledging at Sommerberg. Certainly I didn’t take the funicular but enjoyed the cool downhill trail to Bad Wildbad (“Zick-Zack-Weg”). But I couldn’t do it very dynamically anymore because I felt the more than 40 km in my legs…
In the afternoon it started to snow. The wet and muddy trail down Schweinbachtal at 65 km was not very easy to run…
Arrived at Calw marketplace two minutes to four, so very short below 9 h overall.
Unfortunately the battery of my gps-watch got empty exactly 400 m away from finish! But it saved the activity anyway. And luckily I had a second watch to record the whole elapsed time…
I took all food and drink with in Ultra-Vest. Just refilled water once at a fountain.
