This is a popular 70 km hiking roundtrip crossing northern Black Forest. Usually it’s done clockwise and in three stages (Calw-Sprollenhaus-Schömberg-Calw). It starts and ends at romantic marketplace of the city of Calw in Nagold Valley, native town of famous writer Hermann Hesse. From the start it climbs up a steep trail into the forest, offering beautiful views again and again. Gradually all highlights of the region are passed by: Old sawmills, Upper Enz Valley, beautiful nature reserve Wildsee high moor, Sommerberg mountain with it’s awesome downhill trail to Bad Wildbad, wild and romantic Schweinbachtal and the impressive monastery of Hirsau.
And if you are going fast enough during your FKT attempt you shouldn’t miss to enjoy blueberry pancakes at Grünhütte or/and Black Forest cherrycake at Bad Wildbad or Schömberg…
Starting-/arrival point, the city of Calw, can be reached by car, train and bus very easily (e.g. from Stuttgart city, approx. 1 h).
