Report

On May 11th I ran to both Summits on Mount Glenn. I started at 5:32am. The temperature was around 52 degrees at start. Wind on the ridge-line. I  followed the forest service/mine road to the end of the switchbacks and made my way up through the dense brushy hillside that had a few makeshift cairns. But it was hard to follow the “trail.” Once at the top, I followed the ridge-line through the grassy, rocky, and cactus strewn landscape over the various smaller summits, sometimes on a faint social trail. Once I reached Mount Glenn, I skirted around the eastern side below the rocky ledges through the burned out forest. After flushing out two Coues White-tail deer, I climbed up and reached the Southern-most peak that had the benchmark and radio antennae. I looked for a register here but did not see one. A short distance away I arrived at the northwest peak, found and signed the register, and returned the way i’d come. I was very careful the entire time because many have seen rattlesnakes along this route. I did see a snake, but it was a nonvenomous patch-nosed snake. I drank about a liter of water and around 300 calories. I grew up at the base of this mountain and have always wanted to climb it.
