Description

Located in Southeast Arizona, Mount Glenn is the highest peak in the Dragoon Mountains and is listed with an elevation of around 7,523 ft. It is located nearby Cochise Stronghold which was named after the Chiricahua Apache Chief Cochise who fought against the United States Army during the Apache Wars until peace was established in 1872.

The route starts at the intersections of forest service road 795 and 4378. The official benchmark is located near an antennae and solar panel on what is considered the south summit. A short distance to the Northwest is what some consider to be a slightly higher summit where a register is located. You must tag both of these summits and return back to the starting point.

Since most of the climb is a bushwhack this is an open course. Most climbers choose to use the mining road and follow it all the way up the switchbacks to the end and climb straight up from there to the top of the ridge. From there one can follow the ridge line over various smaller hills all the way to Mount Glenn. A recent fire cleared this once densely forested summit and has made it more accessible. A cold weather attempt may be best to avoid snakes which are often seen by climbers.
