I moved to Grand Manan Island to work on a lobster fishing boat and decided to celebrate this new beginning by running the Lighthouse Trail. On May 16th, 2026 at 9:02am I set out from Swallowtail Lighthouse and had a wonderful day of trail running. Although the trail was quite wet, the sun was shining, boats were sailing and the spirits were up. I was enjoying my time so much that I didn’t even look at my watch once until 26km into the trail. Before running I had placed some water jugs at Whale Cove and The Whistle Lighthouse but didn’t end up needing them as there were several natural sources along the way. Upon completion I hitchhiked back 30km to Swallowtail Lighthouse and was picked up by the second car that drove by. Grand Manan Island is such a timeless spot and the people are the best!
