On Saturday, July 4th I decided after summiting Mount Carleton and Mount Bailey the night prior to Summit Mount Sagamook before heading back home from a weekend of camping at Mount Carleton Provincial Park. It was a very hot and muggy day of trail running with a high of 35 but started to downpour just as I was nearing the trailhead. The rain made for a slippery run especially running on tired legs. The trail was well marked with blue blazes and the summit was quite beautiful with panoramic views of the neighbouring mountains, Big Nictau and Little Nictau Lake. I would recommend to attempt this route in a counter clockwise direction, the trip up will be more aggressive but that will give yourself a flowy downhill to buy some time. I’m very thankful to be able to live so close to such a stunning park.
