Ran this loop as participation in the Rut Virtual 28k. Ran the loop counter clockwise per the advice from multiple sources, and agree this direction is preferred. Ascending the Canyon Creek section is preferable to a fatigued attempt of descent with such tough footing. Regardless, still took a tumble with two miles to go along the Sol Duc River trail... Was able to complete the loop no issue with 54oz. of water and nutrition in a small Salomon Hydration vest. Recommend an early start in order to avoid the heavily trafficked uphill sections with overnight backpackers. Truly a beautifully scenic loop with enough ascent to keep you eager for the ripping fast ridge line section followed by a head down technical footing descent which will leave the quad's burning. Paused briefly during the descent to avoid surprising a small black bear rummaging along the trail near Heart Lake. Made sure to give ample space and an audible few "HEY BEAR"! ? As other's have remarked, I doubt this time posted is a true fastest time, but figured I would throw my name into the mix to bring some competition to this beautiful and fun route! Thanks for the challenge!
