What a beautiful loop!
I ran the standard loop in the clockwise direction from the suggested start, but would suggest future endeavors begin from the Mill Creek Campground. The dirt road is somewhat passable for a 2WD drive, but is not kind on any car's suspension.
I ran unsupported and carried 2 handrunners for water.
The Mill Creek trail is very open and runnable, with the first section's uphills being very gradual. The PCT section is a little more challenging, but the Right Hand Branch trail is steeper, more technical in sections, and very thin and indistinct in sections. Doing the loop counter-clockwise might be faster, to attack the Right Hand Branch climb while fresh, cruising through the PCT section, but then one could make a very fast pace down the open, easy-to-follow and gradual downhills of the Mill Creek Trail.
Just a thought!
Thanks to Ashly Winchester for putting up the route, and Jason Wheat for putting up a time to beat. Just saw Nicolas's time as i am posting this! Thank goodness i beat his time by 5 minutes so i don't have to go back right away! :-)
