Managed to break my old time by over 15 minutes!
The difference was, I think, a mixture of a radically clear trail (the trail crew had recently done an unprecedented fallen tree clearing from top to bottom, which I have never seen before, and added mile markers to the entire length!), better planning, decent fitness, and better preparation.
I was on pace for breaking 3 hours, but really faded in the last 4 miles, running that section slower than my time in 2020.
Otherwise a gorgeous day, with perfect conditions in the early morning, and I felt strong and smooth; right where I wanted to be.
I wore a 1.5L osprey hydration vest with tailwind, carried a hand flask with more of the same, and ate about 6 Spring energy gels for the attempt.
