Got a massive piece of humbleberry pie served up on this one.
Started around 6:15 am. Opted for a little more sleep and warmer weather vs a pre dawn start. Not sure if that was smart or not because it was hot af.
Carried 3.5 liters up to the ranger station. Had .5 left when I got up there. Quickly filled out my permit and ran to the back of the ranger station to fill up waters with the garden hose. Filled 1.5 liters for the summit RT portion. There was still a natural flowing water source but I didn’t filter any. Got to the summit in just under 5 hours. Got back to the ranger station at around 6 hours in, filled up an additional 2.5 liters, at that point realized I forgot salt tabs. Fun. Was excited to run the descent back down, but it turned out to be a lot freaking harder than I thought. Lost a bit of time on the way down, ran into a big beautiful cactus and bonked so hard the last few miles. Laid on the ground in the museum parking lot at the end completely destroyed. Hard day out.
