Though it’s been on my radar for a while, the idea to attempt the one-way Green Ribbon Trail FKT today was spontaneous. I began at 1:01 pm with a temperature of 86°F. Got out hard the first two miles and gradually slowed the rest of the way from there. I held a water bottle in my right hand and my phone in my left (in order to accurately follow the route.) Despite this, I took a wrong turn a little after mile 10, as I was in a slightly deluded state. The heat really caught up to me after this. The trail itself wasn’t too bad. It is always at least slightly muddy, and today was no different. I managed not to slip at all, and I only had 1 or 2 awkward steps. The record could definitely come down another 5 minutes with better weather.
Editor: We put a flag since the effort ended a little before the route end. Apparently the corresponding Strava segment does so and that is confusing. Historically efforts for the FKT went all the way to W Valley Green Rd.
