Thanks Nate and Jason for putting this up as a fun FKT!
Being day one of a three day adventure, I didn't want to blow myself up. I cruised along the trail reminding myself to breath and relax. With only 4 other people seen all day, I had the trail nearly all to myself. Just as described by others, following the rock cairns between the lakes was a struggle at times. Going up it is not as clear as when returning back from the upper lake.
With radiant sunshine for company on a cool autumn day, I tried to keep my footing through the rocky patches as I raced the clock back to the trailhead. I knew I was a few minutes off the pace I wanted to be at but finishing with a whole and unbroken body was the priority. To my amazement, my knees were not blasting their complaints as I hit the parking lot. Fun run success!
This was my first official foray into FKT land. Thanks for the inspiration all you amazing runners out there and to the GR crew for the 2020 support!
