Brian McLeod and Annie Chang started their Maine High Peaks Traverse at 3:04 AM on Saturday, June 26th following the same route that Colin Gulley completed in 2019. We have provided photo evidence of both of us at each summit except for South Crocker because there was no sign marker there; however it is on the route and did not require an out and back. The peak of Sugarloaf also did not have signage but we included a picture of the radio tower on top as well as the elevation marker painted on the rock pile on the summit.
We ran by ourselves. We packed all food and resupplied water three times along the way at natural water sources (Orbeton st, etc).
We had an amazing time. Watching the sun rise as we summited Saddleback was unforgettable. The peaks were above cloud cover. We were aiming for 15 hours and were on track up until Abraham. The back half was technical, a lot of elevation change and Brian injured his foot with 4 miles to go.
