Before setting off on the run, my husband and I took our sons on a mountain bike ride on the trail. My eight year old is learning to ride single track, while my four year old is on a Shot Gun seat on my husband's bike. When we finished the 40-minute ride, the guys went back to our nearby camp sight. As I set off on the run, I wasn't sure I would go after breaking my own FKT, which I established in January, six months earlier, when it was 12 degrees and the trail snow packed. The first three miles flew by, and then the next five, and by the time I hit 10 miles, I knew I had crushed my own first-attempt time. It was so fun! My family picked me up, and the next day I kayaked the Class III Stoneycreek River while my husband and sons rafted along. It was a fun-filled family weekend, with an FKT squeezed in!
