At 11:47 a.m. pacific standard time on January 16th, 2025 I started running from Landsburg Landing in Maple Valley and ran to Lake Washington in Renton and then returned back to Landsburg Landing 4 hours, 2 minutes, and 46 seconds later. I did not have any pacers. I had planned to do this self-supported by using drop bags but last minute my friend, Timothy Shea, said he could meet me at the resupply points so that I did not have to hide drop bags in the woods. He handed me fuel at miles 9.4, 17.5, and 25.6. I would run up to him and grab what I needed from a cardboard box, this is the only support I received. It was a rainy cool day with temperatures in the mid to high 30's.
I am grateful for Zachary Szablewski for putting up such an impressive time making this a difficult and challenging record. I knew I would need to be smart with pacing and hopefully be able to hold on in the end. I ran pretty even splits the whole time with the exception of mile 10 being slower due to a restroom break. I consumed 340 grams of carbs in the form of gels and approximately 2.5 liters of fluid with electrolytes in soft flasks which I carried in a running belt. I took a selfie picture at the start and turnaround, and then two additional pictures of the river which I have posted.
