The night before I started, I stayed at the closest campground (Terraces Picnic Campground) in Lamoille Canyon, NV. I drove myself to the trailhead around 4:15 am and started at 4:30 am at Lamoille Trailhead (note: prior FKTs had started at Harrison Pass, but logistically it was easier for me to run it southbound).
Because I started north, I had a lot of elevation gain and ridgeline runs above 10,000 feet at the beginning of the run. There were still a few ice/snowfields left that I had to cross but overall nothing too bad. Weather was beautiful, about 70 degrees and a light breeze. The trail was a little bit overgrown by wildflowers and bushes towards the end of the trail. There was plenty of water throughout the entire trail until the last 5-6 miles. Once I hit the dirt road the takes you down to Harrison Pass there were not creeks or streams to get water from. The last 5-6 miles before Harrison Pass are very exposed. Given that I arrived there around 1-2pm, it was very hot. My friends picked me up at Harrison Pass and we shuttled back to the car.
I loved every single moment of it. You will not get disappointed by the views throughout the entire trail. I did not see many people throughout the trail. A few backpackers and runners here and there, but overall a very remote experience.
Gear: I had a 1.5 liter trail running vest and some bars. I also brought a lifestraw so I could drink out of streams along the way.
Style: Unsupported - I ran by myself and carried everything with me. Only source I used during the run were creeks and streams along the way.
