Setting off at midnight on Friday 23rd May we'd chosen to take on the FKT in the best weather window possible and to maximise daylight. We also hoped this would enable us to get to places with access to taps etc during daylight/opening hours...which worked mostly!
A gorgeous route, with its fair share of highs and lows, literal and metaphoric! The section from Zennor to St Ives has accumulated its fair share of nicknames between Jane and I, none of them complimentary!
There are well spaced out taps you can access on the way. We were extremely grateful for a lovely chap who let us know where we could access a tap at Zennor, and we were overjoyed to reach St Ives and access fresh supplies. Jane had made exceptional cheese and marmite sandwiches for along the way, which we ate the last of in St Ives along with a much fantasised about for ice lolly.
It's an awesome route, makes for an incredible adventure, doing it self-supported adds a new level of things to think about, certain bits of the path we never need to see again ;)
