My goal today was to achieve 2 FKTs (standard and out&back).
Everything was going pretty well, until shortly after the turnaround. I guess I was feeling a little bonkish, but trying to put it out of my mind as I had 20km still to run. That came to quick halt when I faceplanted and ate dirt. It's so funny to fall when there's seemingly nothing to trip on! Talk about having your guard down! After a couple minutes of ensuring I was ok, and picking up my ego off the pine terrain, I got back up and kept going. I didn't eat the cookie I dropped. No 5 second rule this time haha. Going a little slower now, I continued listening to my audiobook and enjoying my day out in nature. Unfortunately, with 7-8km left to go, I bonked! I don't remember the last time I bonked!! Perhaps I wasn't quite recovered from Thames 110km FKT a couple weekends ago?? With a lot of self-talk, I finally got myself to the end. 🏃🏼♀️
