After a long hike in and one summit to recon the trail, it was time to give the FKT a go. I started my FKT at 12:04pm.
The run up was hard, but I felt great. I tried to run most of it, with only hiking small steep sections near the top (and only for a few seconds at a time). My time to the summit, and touching the fire tower was 31min36sec before turning around and running down.
The run down really demonstrated how technical the trail was. I tried to be safe and pick my footing appropriately. Unfortunately, with only 800m to the end, my foot slid on a boulder and I hurt my ankle on the landing. This ankle bothered me for 15 months & up to November 2021, so needless to say, I was incredibly upset to have the exact pain again. I cried and hobbled to the end, where I met Jamieson. It took me 27min29sec to run down the trail.
After crying for a while longer, we "hiked" out 12km back to our car.
All in all, I'm happy to have finally check out this bucket list trail. It's pretty cool to have hiked and then run up to the highest point in Ontario :)
