I think this route was taken from the LDWA website. They dont consistently update their routes.

Following this outdated trail route, there are 3 places where the route is completely closed off. Thus, a nearby alternative path was used except for the forest bit past silkstone. The path is completely overgrown but i could not see a nearby alternative and decided to follow the old path. It was a big mistake (look at photos on strava activity). This continues on into basically bramble forest, eventually leading to the field next to the highway but yet the exit was barricaded by a metal grill covered in barbed wire. There was no other way to escape the field other than adding massive distance by looking for the farm etc, so you just have to climb over this hazard (photo on strava). I think this gpx is more than a decade old because the other places that are closed off included a fully installed 2m high metal barricade with spikes at the top. thankfully, for those parts there are nearby paths you can take that eventually rejoins the old path.

The rest of the route otherwise where following the old railway lines and through towns is super easy and flat, consisting of either bike paths, tarmac or wide dirt trails. There are some muddy areas in livestock traffic sections in the fields and in the forest single tracks. I think these will fully dry up during late summer if wanting to have a go at a fast fkt.

If planning to do this route, please use my strava activity to learn from my mistakes. Do not follow the path i took past silkstone (going clockwise). The troublesome parts you can trace from my strava activity... basically look for when i had to slow down massively at km 33, and then plan your own alternative route in that area using strava heatmaps or alternative. You can follow the path after silkstone as per this gpx file. You will climb a small hill and run past a field with seemingly no trail to follow. Once you reach the forest, there is a muddy single track. The gpx tells you to stick to the north edge of the forest. Do not do that. Instead, just follow the most obvious path through the forest bearing east, aiming to rejoin pogwell lane more easily.
