We started at 6:40am. Having already hiked the first 15km of the route, we identified the Bocchetta della ferrata as a potential turning point due to recent snowfall. We managed to climb past hard snow leaving the chains for some meters. The other sections of chains along the course were luckily dry.
If the altitude of the trail lowers as you move forward, it doesn't really get easier nor faster. It gets less rocky, more grassy, but definitely not more runnable.
Relatively well marked, the trail is often exposed, straight or non-existent. The only exception is a relaxing dirt road between km32 and km39. The area is really wild and seems far less crowded than close-by mountain ranges.
Note: We had no problem to find water but nothing between km39 and km53.
