We decided to go for an early summer attempt due to the low snowfall this year, and the route was totally snow free! We were slowed down a bit by the many downed trees in the first few miles and some very overgrown sections of the trail (not sure if it would have been clearer later in the season). We also had two rattlesnake sightings that were pretty jarring.
We decided to go White Wolf to Tuolumne Meadows, which gave us a mile warm up at the start because the road to White Wolf was closed. This also resulted in a long slog out of the canyon, but it didn't feel too bad with the climbing pretty concentrated to only a few sections. Things started to hurt in the last 10 or so miles with the steepest climbing sections, but things improved as we hit cooler temperatures higher up. Overall, the weather was pretty good and we only had to stop once to filter water (we had 3.5L of carrying capacity).
Overall, really impressed by everyone else's efforts on this route. Tempted to try it in the other direction, but a little scared of trying to move fast on the descent with all the rattlesnakes.
