A beautiful day in the woods with some amazing women!
Why put one name on the board when you can put four?
We had a chilly start to the day as temps were just below 30 degrees. It slowly warmed up throughout the afternoon and became the most perfect fall running weather. The trail was a mix of many typical Adirondack conditions- muddy, flooded, slippery, snowy, sometimes dry and full of surprises under the leaves. Each of us took a few trips and spills throughout the effort. We began around 9am and decided we would do the route clockwise. We took turns leading throughout the loop, naturally taking over whenever a section of trail best suited our strengths. We finished the initial loop section in under 5 hours and then headed up Pillsbury. We summited the Pillsbury fire tower at 2:38 pm, took some pictures and headed back down. We carefully made our way back down the slick leaf covered trail and returned to the parking lot at 3:02 pm, just 6 seconds past the 6 hour mark.
I loved this loop and will absolutely do it again! It was so fun to see an area of the park outside of the High Peaks. Turns out there is some runnable stuff out there!
