A single push this time, taking almost 24 hours off the duration of last year's 3-day snowy and icy trip. Setting out on the first day of Tassie's winter I was blessed with a opportunity featuring clear skies, snow-free mountains and realtively benign weather (albeit rather breezy and cold on the overnight summits). I still took fast packing gear along the main track and bivvy gear on each side trip so I could hunker down if things did not go to plan.
Some may ask why climb Tassie's highest mountain in the middle of the night just to tick a box. Well, on this occasion, a stunning aurora gave a great answer to that question. Check out my TasTrekker Trail Running blog for a more detailed run through.
Once again, there's a pic for each of the 12 side trips.
