Woke up early and drove about two hours to the visitor center. Elly and I submitted a hikers slip and visited with the ranger for a couple mins. We walked up the trail for about a mile and then I turned around to give her a bit of a head start and I could warmup a little bit. Started at the Humu’ula trail sign at the entrance of the visitor center. Everything went pretty smooth, nice weather, packed ground after some rain / snow earlier in the week. Felt really strong until 12,000ft and then started fraying a bit which makes sense as I haven’t spent a significant amount of time at this kind of altitude all year. All in all pretty good for living at 3,300ft this summer. Hit the summit in 1:27, prayed, made it down in about 0:41. Ended up 2:09:01 finishing at the same trail sign at the entrance of the visitor center.
Elly was also out on trail completing her own summit but no aid was received from her or anyone else. Epic route, highly recommend.
