This loop is one that I, and many others, have spent a considerable time on training for races around the east TN area. When my spring 50k got cancelled this year, I decided to give it a go to see what kind of time that I could put down on it. I started at the map in the Meads quarry parking lot and did the loop in the counter-clockwise direction. That direction places to two biggest climbs within the first 3 miles of the route. Note that after you get out of the quarry trails and cross sunset rd. into Marie Myers park, just stay on the wide gravel path until you reach the bamboo and the road crossing into Will Hastie Natl. Area. The Marie Myers section is only about a mile long. When you reach the end of Lost Chromosome trail (Mile ~6.7), Hang an immediate right onto Burnett creek Rd. and then a left in ~200 meters to get back on the South Loop. From there, just keep following the purple South Loop signs until you hit the terminus of the Will Skelton greenway at about mile 9. That will take you back to the Mead's Quarry parking lot and the starting point.

This trail is a special one for me and I hope anyone who gives this a go will come to love it just as much. Truly a hidden gem here in East TN.
