I felt pretty good the whole time. It was a foggy, humid, and wet day. Temps pretty moderate and comfortable, so that was good. It must have rained the night before. Lots of standing water. The granite was soggy and slippery from the humidity, which made for many slippery moments even before it started raining again. I felt more confident with my footwork on Pumpelly, which must see a lot less travel than Marlboro and had better friction even through the rain.
The route is fairly easy to follow. Cairns helped me across the bald summit zone through some low vis. Pumpelly is a lot more rugged than I thought I would be. I had looked at it from the summit a few times and assumed it would be a fairly chill, gradual trail, but it has some steep and technical sections. Marlboro, of course, is just downright rugged and I knew that going into it.
I fell a ton given the conditions, but I think I avoided injury. I carried a backpack with water and some energy gels. Really fun, wet day of it!
