Saw this route existed and it looked very fun - similar vibes to Paul Revere's Ride. Did a lil recon a few weeks prior and found it to be basically an urban XC course- tons of tight turn and little but steep hills. Confirmed it needed to be done on a dry day and with very little foot/car traffic (ideally a Sunday morning).
Had a beautiful and warm fall morning to run, started around 7am which was good enough for dodging crowds (only had 1 sketchy crosswalk encounter). Had nothing on me except 1 gel which I dropped by accident so I guess this was really unsupported.
It was difficult to stay on top of the trail since there are 90 degree turns into segments that last less than 5 feet before turning another 90 degrees, but I believe I followed the trail as close to the letter as I could without breaking my ankles- I touched the gates on the state house and copps hill twice, and also followed the red bricks all the way to where they end behind the Bunker Hill obelisk on the NE corner.
Speed-wise I think I am a below average 10k runner who is also not in particularly fantastic shape right now; so while I think this was a good start, I would like to take another crack at it before a decent runner comes and breaks down the door on this route.
