A really enjoyable morning. Starting just after 6.30 am in fine rain I made pretty decent and consistent progress for the first half marathon. The pace, somewhat inevitably, slowed after this and the rain had mostly stopped also. The conditions underfoot beyond the Angel of the North were pretty bad however, the slower pace that this forced probably did me a bit of a favour as I was able to rally a little on the very runable last few miles.
