I tried to wake up early to avoid the August heat but that didn't work, I overslept. Thought about not running today, but I checked my weather app and this was the coolest day for the next 2 weeks. I stood up and made coffee for my girlfriend & me. I filled my hydration pack and an extra bottle of electrolytes, packed a bag of sour skittles, and ate some toast. My girlfriend kindly drove me to the entrance of Malibu Creek State Park to the start point. This is my local park and I love running here. I noticed the loop was listed on here and nobody else had submitted a time so I decided to give it a shot. I started at 9 am. By the time I got to Bulldog road, the sun was beating down. It was really hot. A crushing run to the peak. Once I got to the top, I started to feel some of that ocean breeze, and running got easier. The clouds covered the ocean below. I stopped once or twice to enjoy the views. I ate sour skittles on the uphills and cruised down the downhills. A rad day in the park!
