Brilliant FKT route on the Isle of Sheppey
Started in Leysdown at the "Where Time Slows Down" Welcome to Leysdown town sign and quickly made our way along the sea wall until the cafe.
Gaby, Kay Antonio and I found a cold and grey day and also a lot of Public Footpath signs but not as many Harty Trail signs as we would like. The route is interesting. You make a long spine route and then a loop that has two dog-legs in it - which are there to take you to some of the historical parts of the trail.
At the start of the loop we took what looked like the only path but this led us to a field of cows and a potentially angry farmer. We made our way back and this time took the field route. It clearly was right but it was already overgrown and easy to get wrong. We find ourselves in a forest or nettles and some very sore legs. The path opened up and took us past the sea and then the stunning Harty church. The loop finished with the only road part back.
We had a lot of fun and look forward to hearing positive news about the entire island path being finished
