This effort was inspired by my running family, Castle Rock Run Club (CRRC).
I started pre dawn at the Rampart Range Road parking lot with Juan Obregon and Jacob Prezkuta. We were met by Russ Ditzworth and Graham Shalvoy about 4-5 miles in while they were running towards us from Jackson Creek Road. Around the 14 mile mark, with this group, Russ, Jacob, & Graham switched out with Corinne Shalvoy and Michal Thompson. Juan stayed on and the 4 of us ran past the 30 mile mark together. After 30ish miles, it was just me and my dad, Bill Leung, for support. Dad stopped about every 6 miles ahead of me, which gave me a little company and allowed for refueling food and fluids. Miles 35-45 had some highs and lows with some GI distress. Once I mustard through this, the last 12 miles were much better, particularly the last 7 downhill miles which was a lot of fun.
Was hoping to have ran this about an hour faster but still very happy to have done it. The finish at Garden of the Gods with my family was a great way to end it!
