Charles F Lewis Trail Clockwise Male Unsupported
This was the first time I ran the trail clockwise at least I cant remember ever doing it clockwise. It sucked just as bad if not worse than counter clockwise. With the rain the last few days the creek crossing was high so I could not avoid feet getting wet. So like a tenth in my feet were soaked. After that climbing the rocks we tougher. Just that whole first 1.5-2 miles was harder going up then it is coming down. The brier bushes really get you a lot more on way up because of having to go slower uphill they did rip into me more. Seemed like a lot more were across the trail then a few weeks ago. It was a little easier to navigate the 1st have of route the yellow blazes seemed to stand out more but the 2nd half was the typical hard to read and see as they are whole time when running counter clockwise. Saw one turkey today. There was also one guy in the middle of the woods not sure what he was doing may have been working with dcnr cause he was in logging area. Was really too cold to run the route today 37 degree at my car when I got out. I could see breathe real bad at top of the hill so had to be close to 32 degrees up there. Did clean up some trash in parking lot as I left. Want to run the clockwise again because I can do it faster. Today also rocks were slippery and course was wet. So had to watch footing. The last half mile was treacherous. I thought it was bad the normal way going up but even worse today going down, you can really see the sheerness of the edge of hill. There really isn’t much to run on step on its pretty bad angle with no safety edge. So if you slip you definitely dropping 50-100 feet depending where you slip. I was hoping for a better run it just didn’t happen.
