After heading out doing the one way i headed back to my car to make it a out and back. I was wearting two watching the one for the one way and the other for the out and back. Looking at my watch before heading back i knew the route was a a tad longer then plot a route and garmin came up with. I think because of the switchbacks directly behind the museum. the watch i used for the one way garmins vivoative 4 was closer to plot a route but my good garmin forerunner 945 was long which i feel is actually more accurate, i know there no real service on the trail part and the forerunner picks up gps better. Anyway i had to get back to my car so a couple tenths more then planned had to be ran either way.
Now that i knew the trails oem didnt have to be as cautious heading back. Plus it was basically downhill on the trail part so was easier. so i thought. the stinging nettles didnt burn my legs as they did on way out but i did pay attention more on way back as to where they were. running downhill felt better on my legs. Also started get more energy but that may have been the caffine in my hydration bottle kicking in finally. the way back was just better. could have been because temperature was a few degrees cooler as well. I chugged along. My legs were getting tired on the trail. Once i hot the rail trail way back legs still got progressively more tired but managed ot hang on. There was about 8-10 on rail trail part walking dogs way back nobody way out so was nice see people using trail as i was finishing up. Trail needs trimmed up. It is a national state park and a "natural area" so i think thats why its not taken care of as much.
