In order to make this adventure more epic I decided to add the bike. I locked my bike at the western end of the trail and drove to the eastern end to start. It was a brisk morning but turned into a spectacular weather day. I ran the entire Pachaug Trail east to west, pushing the pace in the last 5 miles as the trail mellowed out. I bumped into many hikers, horse back riders, and dirt bike riders. All were very nice. There were a few sections where the trail was challenging sure to blowdowns and strange markings on the trees. When I finished the run I unlocked my bike to ride it back to the start in the shortest milage possible, which was rte 136 and then onto a dirt road for the last 2.5 miles. Rider beware: the pickup trucks are not very nice to cyclists out here. My finish time is run plus transition plus the bike ride.
