On April 19th 2026, blind runner Denis Leblanc became the first para athlete in Atlantic Canadian history to set an FKT. With a team formed of Brandon McCluskey leading and Jamie Degrace trailing, the 3 set out from the Mount Douglas Bald Trail trailhead at 12:20pm for an unsupported FKT attempt. After summiting the mountain, the boys returned with a total elapsed time of 1 hour 45 minutes and 16 seconds. The trail is made up of roots, loose rock and boulders making this a difficult challenge for a blind athlete but with the use of trail running poles to feel out the terrain and verbal guiding, the plan was a success!
