We set out just after 6am with headlamps in the counterclockwise direction from the Sugar Hollow parking lot, up the North Fork of the Moorman's River. The first five or so miles were even paced as we climbed up towards SNP. The water was running high and cold, so it meant wet feet for the first half of the run (5+ stream crossings).
Mid miles were very runnable. The decent was walkable at best. Both Sean and Dana rolled their ankles hard. In places there were ankle-deep leaves hiding uneven rocks, so you just had to shuffle along until things opened up with ~2-3 miles to go.
More stream crossings in the final stretch!
This route has certainly been done faster before, but wanted to get something formal on the board. It's a great loop, different with each season, and under the right conditions you can really lay the hammer down. Spring/Summer/early Fall is likely your best bet.
